“Sed Contra” is the turning point in every article of the Summa Theologiae, where St. Thomas Aquinas begins to set forth the answer to the question posed.

Letter from the Director

Dear Friends of the Thomistic Institute,

I am delighted to introduce you to Sed Contra, the Thomistic Institute’s new bi-monthly publication.

Thanks to the support of friends and benefactors like you, the Thomistic Institute now sponsors lectures on 97 college campuses throughout the United States and abroad. These lectures have been attended by thousands of students and listened to by millions more on our podcast.

Over the years, I have seen how these lectures spark profound discussions and life-changing insights that should be taking place not only in our universities, but also in our public institutions and the broader public sphere. This is why we created Sed Contra.

Now available as a free publication, Sed Contra adapts some of our top lectures to the written word, since it is both more enduring and also better suited for deeper engagement with such important ideas.

As always, know of my prayers for you and your family.

In Christ,

Fr. Dominic Legge, O.P.

Director
